[music|Relient K - More Than Useless ]
During my final interview, I was asked what made me finally go job hunting after a whole year's worth of traveling and bumming around and trying out weird food and getting empacho at least once every two weeks perhaps. I couldn't help saying it. I was like, "Well, I was thinking that maybe it's about time I do something more useful? To be quite frank?" I was relieved when I got hearty laughter in return. After an hour of that, I was offered the position. I start work at IBM on Tuesday. Hurrah! I don't feel so idle and useless anymore!
I got the job exactly one year after graduation in Ateneo. Ain't that cool? Sometimes I think it's kind of pathetic, allowing myself to actually wait that long. But I'm glad I took that whole year's worth of doing absolutely nothing before mandatory overtime. Heh. Just like what Calvin would say to Hobbes, "There's not enough time to do all the nothing you can in this world anymore."
Wait, did Charlie Brown say that? Or was it Garfield? No way it was Confucius? Get outta here!
Had the BEST lechon kawali for dinner tonight. Oh. My. God. It was ridiculously good. Usual recipe, but it was turbo-ed to perfection. It was like tasting heaven when I sank my teeth into those crunchy, golden brown slices of pig skin. Wow. Talk about calorie lust.
Celebrating my cousin Chino's graduation (finished Economics in Ateneo... we are indeed a proud family of Ateneans, no doubt about that) tomorrow with lunch and dinner in BF. That's lunch with the oldies and dinner with the youngin's. It should be fun.
1. 10 years ago what did you think you would be doing now?
Hopping on a plane to Europe for a conference on interior design. Or working on a project for some celebrity's dining area. Or taking an inventory check before calling it a day in my successful furniture shop. Geez. I was such a big fan of Mrs. Wakefield I can't even say it.
2. Where do you think you will be in 5 years?
I will be twenty six. Hopefully engaged and preparing for my country-style, summer wedding. And of course, successful in my chosen career path. Probably taking painting lessons too.
3. Do you live life one day at a time or look to the future?
I don't like planning and crap, so I live one day at a time. Did I just contradict my #2 response or what? But honestly, I hardly ever look to the future. I focus a lot on what I have now.
4. Do you wish you could go back in time and undo something in your life?
My selfish side says yes. I hate it when it does that though. I try my best to live in the moment and appreciate the now, hold on until it's time to let go and never stop moving along.
5. If you could send a message back in time and give a younger version of yourself some advice, what would it be?
Take risks. Be fearless. Jump in, let go, and start learning when you're there already. No reason staying stuck in the sidestreet.
